Creating Your First Habitat

  1. Navigate to any empty slot in your haven and tap the + button
  2. Choose "Add Habitat" from the slot menu - you're already on your way
  3. Give it a name that captures the vibe (like "Rainforest Corner" or "Desert Escape")
  4. Pick your habitat type - terrarium, vivarium, paludarium, or aquarium
  5. Select a visual from the gallery that matches your setup perfectly
  6. Set your substrate details if you want to track your base layer
  7. Toggle bioactive if you're running live plants and cleanup crews
  8. Configure care frequencies for cleaning and feeding schedules

Quick Slot Operations

Splitting Slots - Got multiple small habitats sharing space?

  1. Long-press any slot to see your options
  2. Choose "Split Slot" to divide it in half
  3. Add habitats to each new sub-slot

Merging Slots - Need more space for a larger habitat?

  1. Long-press a split slot in edit mode
  2. Select "Merge Slot" to combine sub-slots
  3. Choose where to move any existing habitats first

Drag & Drop Between Slots and Havens

Moving habitats is totally intuitive. CrittrHavens uses smooth drag and drop - just like rearranging physical setups.

  1. Drag any habitat to a new slot - even across different havens
  2. Drop it in place - the app handles all the positioning
  3. Confirm the move and you're set

Assigning Crittrs and Plants

Adding Crittrs

  1. Tap your habitat to open its detail view
  2. Click the "Add Crittr" button in the crittrs section
  3. Create a new crittr or select from existing ones to assign to this habitat

Adding Plants

  2. Click the "Add Plant" button in the plants section
